Let b = Exchange back odds, S = back stake, c = 0.02 = exchange commission.
- • Lay odds (opposite outcome):
L = b / (b − 1), snapped to the nearest Betfair tick. - • Lay stake (so liability = S):
X = S / (L − 1)⇒X · (L − 1) = S. - • Commission is taken from the winner's profit, not from the liability:
– if back wins:π = S · (b − 1) · (1 − c)
– if lay wins:π = X · (1 − c)
